Morphinan is the base chemical structure of a subgroup of opioids. It is also an alternative name for the drug dromoran, which is a racaemic parent drug of Levo-Dromoran® (levorphanol); both dromoran and levorphanol are used in medicine as analgesics, as is dextrorphan, but levorphanol is by far the most commonly-used.
