Montefiore Hill

Montefiore Hill

Montefiore Hill is a small hill in North Adelaide, South Australia. It offers a vantage point over Adelaide Oval, Memorial Drive Tennis Courts, and the Central Business District. It is said to be where surveyor-general Colonel William Light stood in 1837 and pointed at the location of what would one day become the city of Adelaide. He is often quoted as having said at the time, "This is the place for a city". (However, there is some evidence that the location may have been the corner of North and West terraces.)

Behind this statue is Aquinas College, which is affiliated with the University of Adelaide.
