Modal share, or
Modal split, is a traffic / transport term which describes the percentage of travellers using a particular type of transportation. For example, if 60% of all travellers use cars to get from A to B, while 30% use the train and 10% use the bus, then the
public transport modal share would be 40% (bus + train), while the motor vehicle modal share would be 70% (car + bus).
