Mobile-8 is a cellular operator which was established in December 2002. which responded to the ever increasing need of mobile communication services in Indonesia, The Mobile-8 product called Fren was launched on the 8th December 2003. Currently the company has over two million subscribers and is growing fast.

In the process of deploying the technology, Mobile-8 strategically teams up with Qualcomm as its supplier of the CDMA technology and Korea Telecom Freetel (KTF) as its Operation & Maintenance consultant. Mobile-8 deploys CDMA2000 1x and CDMA2000 1x EV-DO technology which is supported by close to 465 BTS within Java and surrounding islands. Currently the company has plans to expand throughout the Indonesian archipelago within the next year or two starting with Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi
