Microplasmas are gas discharges with small dimensions in the range from micrometers to millimeters. They can be operated at atmosphreic pressure, so they find various medica and industrial applications as: Sterilization, Medical tratment of human skin, surface activation, thin film couatings.

Microplasmas can be generated by DC powered electrodes with a ballast resistor, AC driven using a insulator to produce a berrier discharge
