municipality in in the Bardhaman Sadar South subdivision of
Bardhaman district in the
Indian state of
West Bengal. Railway Station on
Howrah -
Bardhamaan main railway line, 2 hours journey from Howrah.

Demographics
As of 2001 India
census, Memari had a population of 36,191. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Memari has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 63%. In Memari, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Politics
Sandhya Bhattacharya of CPI (M) won the Memari assembly seat defeating her nearest rival Sk. Mohammad Ismile of AITC in the 2006 assembly elections. In 2001 and 1996, Tapas Chattopadhyay of CPI (M) defeated Syed Mustaq Murshed of AITC and Naba Kumar Chatterjee of INC in the respective years. In 1991, 1987 and 1982, Maharani Konar of CPI (M) defeated Abdul Ohidmolla, Naba Kumar Chatterjee and Sabyasachi Samanta, all of INC, in the respective years. In 1977, Benoy Konar of CPI (M) defeated Surya Narayan Pal of JNP.
Memari is part of Bardhaman (Lok Sabha constituency).
Education
Memari has thirteen primary, two secondary and two higher secondary schools. .
