Melissa Fitzgerald

Melissa Fitzgerald is an American actress best known for her role on the TV program The West Wing as Carol Fitzpatrick, assistant to C. J. Cregg.

Fitzgerald attended and graduated from Springside School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and earned a B.A. in drama and literature from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of prominent Pennsylvania judge James Fitzgerald.

She is the founder of Voices in Harmony, a non-profit community theater in Los Angeles.

In 1990 Melissa met her husband, actor Noah Emmerich, who acted in such movies as The Truman Show, Beautiful Girls, and Miracle. They were married November 28 1998.

On January 19, 2007, Nicholas D. Kristof of The New York Times announced that Fitzgerald had won a writing contest on Darfur he had sponsored.

On May 17, 2008 Melissa received the Chestnut Hill College Medal and she was the graduation speaker for the commencement exercises of Chestnut Hill College's class of 2008

Melissa's resume states that she is a ranked tennis player and skilled in badminton, hiking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, fencing.
