Mattru is a town in Bonthe District located in the Southern Province of Sierra Leone. It is the seat of the Jong Chiefdom, and home of Paramount Chief Alie Badara Sheriff III. It is located along the Jong River, 52 miles southwest of Bo. The main industries in Mattru Jong are fishing, rice-growing, cassava-farming, and palm oil production. The main inhabitants of Mattru are the Sherbro and Mende ethnic groups.
