The Marquesado del Valle de Oaxaca
was the seignorial estate in New Spain
belonging to Hernán Cortés
and his descendants. The Marquesado was granted to Cortés by King Charles V
on July 6 1529
, and continued to be held by his descendants throughout the colonial period
, until 1811
