After initially majoring in Psychology, Rafter received his Bachelors of Science (1983) and Masters of Science (1990) degrees in Electrical Engineering from the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He spent the earlier part of his engineering career designing and building communications networks, primarily working on DoD-based systems for the Hughes Aircraft Company and later moving into commercial wireless and satellite applications with L-3 Communications and Loral Space and Communications companies.
In 2000, Rafter founded Neognosis Inc., a contract engineering and consulting company, continuing his work in large scale communication systems design for various companies, including PanAmSat, Liberate Technologies, Boeing Digital Cinema, and Lockheed-Martin.
He is the co-author of five patents in the areas of Code Division Multiple Access communications and broadband file transfer over satellite.
Rafter is an active public speaker and educator, helping individuals, businesses and their employees to optimize the balance between personal fulfillment and financial prosperity. He is the founder and President of New Knowledge Resources, a coaching services and information products company.
His most recent book, The Wealth Manifesto: Transforming Your Life from Survive to Thrive was published in Spring 2008.
