Mangadu is a town in Kancheepuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Literally meaning, a mango forest is a south-westrern suburb of Chennai. It is about 20km from the city. The town is famous for its Kamatchi amman temple. Easiest landmark to reach the mangadu temple is Poonamalle.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Mangadu had a population of 20,108. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Mangadu has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 66%. In Mangadu, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
