Malak is an Arabic given name for both males and females. It is also the word for "angel" in Arabic, Hebrew, and Ethiopic (all of which are related Semitic languages). The plural of malak ("angels") is malaaikah in Arabic, malakim in Hebrew, and mala`ikt in Ethiopic.

The title Malak or Malik is also used in the Pashtun areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan for tribal chiefs.
