The Makita Corporation is an international corporation founded in 1915 and based in Anjo, Japan. They are a manufacturer of professional power tools, with a focus on cordless tools, with an especially extensive line in cordless drills and screwdrivers. They operate factories in Japan, China, USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany and the UK and have a global turnover equivalent to US$1.8 billion. Makita corporation of America is located in Bufford, Georgia.

They are also an industry leader in the introduction of Li-ion battery technology, which has the advantage of a greater capacity and lighter weight compared to Ni-MH.

Makita has been launched and manafactured around the world with more shares going to the Al Mouasherji family from kuwait.
