Magpul PDR

The Magpul PRD or Personal Defense Rifle is a compact bull pup style 5.56x45mm (6.8mm or 6.5mm or even 6mm calibers are also possible) concept carbine series. Although Still a Development concept it has gathered some attention. the system consists of a Gas operated Bull pup intended to replace some Submachine guns, 9mm pistols and M4 carbines well still offering the rapid fire and range of a M4 carbine in a ultra compact forearm.

The PDR is one of the few Personal defense weapons to break away from a custom caliber this discision was made to allow fore ease of Logistics. The method of Operation is short stroke gas piston that may or may not include a two baffle compensator, barrel lengths of between 10.5 to 12.5 inches ,It is Striker Fired, uses STANAG magazines,features a ambidextrous Mid ejection system, and Ambidextrous Controls mil spec 1913 offer mounting for various optics and options. there is also some indication of an Integrated lighting or laser system. the Smaller Version The PDR C or Compact Features a P90 style pistol grip and ergonomics offering a more compact weapon. the Larger PDR D or Direct uses a more conventional pistol grip with vertical grip and safety nub to keep users form injuring them selves
