Longbow Gold came out in March 1997, and is a compilation pack of the AH-64D Longbow and Flash Point: Korea add-on from Jane's Combat Simulations. It is also fully patched and updated to include a Windows executable, so you are no longer limited to MS-DOS use. A very welcome addition is also the 3DFX update, which converts the whole sim to lush Glide mode.
'Best Simulation of the Year' - PC Gamer
On modern systems
Limited success has been achieved at getting the DOS version of the game to run on modern PC systems by using the
MS-DOS emulator
DOSBox. The biggest problem here is the low framerates, and even on the lowest graphics settings, the game plays like a slideshow, rendering it nearly unplayable. To date, fans have only really gone down this road to relive old memories - and not for serious progressive gameplay.
