A line holder is H-shape piece of wood, plastic or stainless steel used to wrap a small rope like a line.

Usage

It is usually used in conjunction with a Surface Marker Buoy or a DSMB by divers. In this case negative buoyancy is important in order to safetly unwind the line underwater:

• the scuba diver can drop the line holder a wait from a safety distance for the partial or complete unwinding
• a negative buoyancy line holder will greatly reduce the risk of losing it
