Landwehrkanal

Landwehrkanal

The Landwehrkanal is a canal in Berlin, Germany, built between 1845 and 1850 to plans by Peter Joseph Lenné.

It connects the upper part with the lower part of the river Spree, and flows through Charlottenburg, Tiergarten and Kreuzberg (main part). In Kreuzberg a long part of the Landwehrkanal is accompanied by the Berlin U-Bahn, which runs here as an elevated railway.

After she was murdered Rosa Luxemburg's body was dumped into the Landwehrkanal.
