Toy Love is the self-titled by New Zealand band, Toy Love released in 1980.
For many years the vinyl release of this album waz regarded as one of New Zealand's major record-collecting rarities. The loss of the original master tapes meant that there were no re-pressing or re-releases of the album after its initial 1980 run; with the increaing iconic status of Toy Love as precursors of the Dunedin Sound, which gained widespread popularity in the mid to late 1980s, the album became much sought-after.
The album was not released in digital form until the compilation Cuts in 2005, a compilation which contained the entire Toy Love album along with singles and alternative mixes of several of the album's songs (Toy Love were unhappy with the original album's mix, which blunted the edge of their deliberately raw sound).
