Kichha is a city and a municipal board in Udham Singh Nagar district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

Geography

Kichha is located at . It has an average elevation of 193 metres (6333 feet). There are many villages within Kichha, such as Manmohan Farm, Govind Nagar Deoria, Badoda, Chinki, Bandia, Sirauli Shantipuri, Khurpia Farm, Aazadpur, Lalpur, and Maharajpur.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Kichha, a small town previously in Nainital district, had a population of 30,517. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Kichha has an average literacy rate of 56%, lower than the national average of 59.5%. Male literacy is 63%, and female literacy is 49%. In Kichha, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age. Hindus form 65% of the population, muslims 35%. The Baniyas, Sikhs ,Punjabi and some bengali labourers form the Hindu Population. The Malik's Arain, Khan, Qureshi and Ansari formed the Muslim Population. Punjabi and Maliks here are mostly prosperous and educated.

Education

Kichha has a Degree college for girls and a govt Inter College for Boys.

Economy

Im Gidhpuri village here, there are a lot of sindi people doing papad business.

Politics

Kichha Congress Committee president, since many years, is a veteran leader Shri Pyare Lal Goel, who is also a renowed businessman and social worker.

In news

The Kichha also become tense after Victory of Indian Cricket Team in T20 World cup when some miscreants tried to fuel communal tension in the city. They set ablaze many shops and vehicles of each other.
