Joost is a Dutch first name. It derives either from the name Jodocus, which can ultimately be traced back to St. Judoc, a Breton saint in the sixth century, or from the Ancient Roman name Justus. In Dutch proper it is pronounced /joːst/. In Afrikaans it is pronounced /just/.
