Kathmandu District

Kathmandu District (Nepal Bhasa: येँ जिल्ला, Nepali: काठमाडौं जिल्ला) is a district located in Kathmandu Valley, Bagmati Zone, Nepal. It is one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal, a landlocked country in South Asia. The district has Kathmandu City as its district headquarters. It covers an area of 395km² and has a population (2001) of 1,081,845. Kathmandu is the most densely populated district of Nepal.Kathmandu is capital of Nepal.

Most of the offices and industry of Nepal are in Kathmandu. Many students from all over Nepal come to Kathmandu to have higher Secondary Education (+2 Level). National School of Sciences, St. Xavier's College, Prime College, Buda Nil Kantha College are among the top higher secondary schools in Kathmandu. Nepal University (formerly called Tribhuvan University), Kathmandu University are two universities in Kathmandu.
