Kairouan Governorate
The Kairouan Governorate (ولاية القيروان) is one of the twenty-four Governorates (provinces) of Tunisia. It is an inland province, situated in the centre of the country. It covers an area of 6,712 km² and has a population of 546,209 (2004 census). The capital is Kairouan.
