KUTH is a full-service
television station in
Provo, Utah, and serves as the
Univision station for the
Salt Lake City, Utah market. It broadcasts in
analog on
UHF channel 32, with no separate DTV allocation. The station is network-owned, but is operated by
Equity Broadcasting, with all programming and master control originating via satellite from Equity's headquarters in
Little Rock, Arkansas.
At one point, KUTH aired local newscasts; they were produced out of Little Rock, with reports produced in Salt Lake City. The newscasts were canceled in June 2008, after Equity instituted a companywide suspension of news programs.
Digital television
Because it was granted an original
construction permit after the
FCC finalized the
DTV allotment plan on
April 21,
1997
, the station did not receive a companion channel for a digital
television station. Instead, on or before
February 17,
2009, which is the end of the digital TV conversion period for full-service stations, KUTH will be required to turn off its
analog signal and turn on its
digital signal (called a "
flash-cut").
