FamilyNet programming is pre-empted much of the evening, so in addition to network programming, KQEG also carries high school sports, La Crosse Speedway Knights of Thunder, selected parades, many specials and evening movies, repeats of WXOW's 6:00 news, and a handful of local programs including Bargain House and Coulee Conversations, a local talk show.
On January 27, 2006, KQEG announced that they would drop UPN effective immediately
and switch to more general-interest and local programming (most likely due to the formation of The CW from the merger of UPN and The WB). It was soon replaced on cable in Eau Claire, Wisconsin with the new UPN affiliate WKBT-DT2.
White Eagle Partners also owns a construction permit for W45CF in Elk Mound, intended as a translator of KQEG-CA, but the station is not on air.
