Joey Spina

Joey Spina (born August 12, 1977 in Rhode Island) is an American professional boxer.

Joey Spina is the current IBF Inter-Continental Super Middleweight champion and WBC United States (USNBC) Super Middleweight champion.

Joey Spina won WBC United States (USNBC) Super Middleweight title when he beat Carl Daniels on points for the vacant title in 2005.

He won the IBF Inter-Continental Super Middleweight title in 2006 when he stopped Jay Pina for the vacant title.

On October 14, 2006, Spina lost a third round TKO to Peter Manfredo Jr. in Providence, Rhode Island. This was the first loss in Spina's career. Two of the three judges at ringside gave the first round to Spina. On October 20th 2007 Spina defeated journeyman Shannon Miller via 4th round KO in Reno Neveda.

Spina defeated Henry Mayes March 14th 2008 at the Twin River event center. 3 weeks later Spina defeated one of Quebecs best light heavy weights David Whittom by split decsion, also at the Twin River Event Center. Spina improved to 22-1.

In August of 2008 Spina took on former Heavyweight Jim Strohl again at the Twin River Event Center and scored a 2nd round KO improving to 23-1. Joey is the currently ranked 15th Light Heavyweight in the world. Rumors have been swirling revolving possible rematches with former Contender stars Peter Manfredo and Jesse Brinkley.
