Joey Spampinato

Joey Spampinato is one of the founding members and the bass player of NRBQ, and one of the most in demand session bassists. To the general audience he is known for his collaborations with Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones on the Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll documentary celebrating the 60th birthday of Chuck Berry, as well as appearing on Keith Richards' first solo album Talk is Cheap. When Bill Wyman left the Rolling Stones in 1993, Spampinato was considered as Wyman's replacement. Spampinato was married to country singer/songwriter Skeeter Davis, although they divorced, and is presently married to musician Kami Lyle.

NRBQ band-mate Terry Adams wrote the song "Spampinato" in celebration of his friend's family name; the song appeared on the band's 1994 album Message for the Mess Age.
