Isle La Motte

Isle La Motte, island and village, 6 mi (9.7 km) long and 2 mi (3.2 km) wide, in Lake Champlain, NW Vt. The French chose the island as the site for Fort Ste Anne (built 1666), the first recorded settlement in Vermont. It remained garrisoned for some time but was abandoned long before permanent settlement began c.1788. Black marble is quarried on the island.

Quiéry-la-Motte is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais département in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of France.

Geography

A farming village situated northeast of Arras, at the junction of the D39 and D48 roads. The A1 autoroute passes right by the commune.
