Iomega Corporation is a supplier of portable
computer storage devices, network storage and media. The corporation, established in
Roy, Utah in
1980, has 208 employees. Iomega is headquartered in
San Diego,
California, USA, with other offices in
Utah,
Singapore, and
Switzerland.
Their best-known products were the Zip and Jaz drives, especially popular during the late 90s and early 2000s when high capacity "USB flash drives" have yet to emerge in the mass market.
On April 8 2008, EMC Corporation announced its plans to acquire Iomega for a consideration of US$213M. The acquisition was completed in June 2008.
