"From the Inside" is a song by the nu metal band Linkin Park. It is the tenth track from their 2003 album Meteora.
It was released in Australia and the United States (it was released as download only in the UK) in 2004 as the fourth single from the album.
Song
The song is one of Linkin Park's heavier songs. The song progresses to a more melodic singing at the beginning, but then grows more intense towards the end. The song also has more screaming, with Bennington screaming for about 10 seconds straight.
Music video
The video, directed by
Joe Hahn, takes place during a
riot. In the middle of the riot are
Mike Shinoda and
Chester Bennington. The video is centred around a child who is abandoned by his guardian during the chaos. The child wanders around in the midst of the riot. Towards the climax the child screams just like Chester which knocks down the entire crowd and therefore stops the riot and all the rubble starts rising and eventually falls when the child runs out of breath.
The video was filmed between the band's Europe '03 tour in Prague in the Czech Republic. The making of the video can be found on LPTV ("Season 2") episode 4.
Track listing
Tracks 2 & 3 are from Linkin Park's performances on their CD/DVD Live in Texas.
Charts
The song is the least successful single from
Meteora, since it's the only single from the album that never hit #1 or chart on
Modern Rock Tracks. It also failed to chart anywhere else on other
U.S. music charts and became the lowest charting single in many other countries, despite acclaim from fans.
