Blending a 1930s fast-moving, fast-talking, Bringing Up Baby-esque romp under the assured hand of Bogdanovich, proved too much for the popcorn audience of the 1980s to take and it almost destroyed the career of all involved. Lowe plays totally out of type and is seen as nothing short of a revelation in the film.
