Ibarruri, Dolores, 1895-1989, Spanish political leader. A founder of the Spanish Communist party, she wrote in several Communist newspapers under the pseudonym "La Pasionaria" ("the passion flower"). She became a living legend during the
Spanish civil war for her impassioned orations against the fascists. After living in exile for 38 years, she returned (1977) to Spain and was elected to parliament.
