All songs were written and performed by Nickelback. It was released in March/ April 1996. Supposedly, the name came from a friend of the band who would frequently say "Hey sure". After selling more than 10,000 copies, the band stopped production of the album, and it is now a sought-after collector's item.
Hesher was the first of only two albums to feature lead singer Chad Kroeger's cousin Brandon Kroeger as a drummer. He can also be seen in the music video for the single "Fly".
Out of the four songs later re-released on Curb, "Window Shopper" and "Fly" weren't re-recorded for the album, being the same recordings found on Hesher.
Four out of the seven songs were re-released on their next album, Curb (1996). Those songs were: "Where?", "Window Shopper", "Fly" and "Left".
