Globosat

Globosat is a multichannel cable and satellite TV service in Brazil, created in 1991, after the creation of cable and satellite TV services. It has also operated a channel in Portugal, TV Globo Portugal, having earlier operated a similar channel, GNT Portugal, until 2006.

In 1993, Globosat split its content generation and distribution businesses. Cable TV sales and distribution were assigned to Net Brasil, which was also responsible for installing cable networks in selected cities. Nowadays Net Brasil is responsible for the cable network in those cities. Content production and programming remained with Globosat, renamed to Globosat Canais.

• Telecine Premium (formerly Telecine, Telecine 1) : major blockbuster releases
• Telecine Action (formerly Telecine 2) : action and adventure films
• Telecine Light (formerly Telecine 3, Telecine Emotion) : drama, comedy and family films
• Telecine Pipoca (formerly Telecine 4, Telecine Happy) : blockbusters and other films dubbed in Portuguese (originally oriented to comedy and family movies, those moved to Telecine Emotion)
• Telecine Cult (formerly Telecine 5, Telecine Classic) : world, art films (originally oriented to classic film, mostly in black-and-white, moved to the other Telecine networks)
• Canal Brasil (joint venture with Brazilian partners) : Brazilian movies
• Megapix : second-run, dubbed movies
• Premiere Futebol Clube (pay-per-view, formerly Premiere Esportes) : soccer, holds the pay-per-view rights to the Campeonato Brasileiro and several state championships
• PFC : 24-hour all-soccer channel
• Premiere Shows (pay-per-view) : originally music concerts, TV Globo series and telenovelas, currently sells Big Brother Brasil coverage
• Premiere Combate (pay-per-view) : fighting, holds the rights to K-1, Pride FC and boxing events
• SexyHot (pay-per-view) : brazilian adult hardcore movies (joint venture with Playboy TV International, formely only-Globosat channel)
• ForMan (pay-per-view) : gay and lgbt adult hardcore movies (joint venture with Playboy TV International, formerly only-Globosat channel)
