is a former municipality in Sør-Trøndelag
county, Norway. It was created in 1926 when the municipality Røros was split in four (Brekken
, Glåmos, Røros
and Røros landsogn
). At this point Glåmos had a population of 983.
On January 1 1964 the four municipalities were reunited under the name Røros. Before the merger Glåmos had a population of 700.
The first element of the name is the name of the river Glomma
(here called Glåma
), the last element is os
'startpoint of a river'. The river Glomma/Glåma starts here - at the end of the lake Aursunden
