The Genesee County Patriots are an AAA Minor League football team with offices in Clio, Michigan and their home stadium located in Flint, Michigan. The Patriots currently play in the North American Football League. You can visit the official team web site at [www.GCPatriots.com]
Before the 2004 season, the Patriots jumped to the NAFL and relocated to Clio's Pride Stadium. A little improvement to the team, but still the result of a disappointing season loomed on the Patriots again.
The 2005 season started back in Flint as Clio's Pride Stadium underwent renovations in the parking lot, so for the first two home games the Patriots played at Flint's Guy V. Houston Stadium, and finished it out back at Pride Stadium. Once again the Pats improved, but still were disappointed with how the season turned out.
The Patriots officially returned to Atwood Stadium in 2007, following a combined marketing agreement with the Atwood Stadium Authority. The Patriots sited extensive renovations to Atwood Stadium along with the ASA's support of the Patriots as reasons for their move.
Andre Weathers, the former Flint Central High School and University of Michigan star and New York Giant, was hired to take over the helm of the Patriots as Head Coach for 2007. He was just one of many new faces that were brought in to help the Patriots take the next step in their evolution as a Program. Other such new names included Mark Ingram (MSU and 10yr NFL Veteran) as an offensive assistant and Jeff Grayer (former CBA Head Coach of the Flint Fuze)as their Director of Recruiting.
