Nōgata is located in the center of the Chikuhō region of Fukuoka.

Chikuhō region had the largest output of coal in Japan. But as the energy changed from coal to oil, all coal mines were closed.
Nōgata has suffered from a declining population.
In Nōgata coal memorial museum, we can know the history of coal mines.
It exhibits a steam locomotive, the massive of coal, machines for digging, the coal miner's clothes, and so on.
The riverside park is a place of rest and relaxation for people.
As spring comes, the yellow flowers blooms in the park.
In April, the Tulip Festival is held there. The park becomes so colorful and bright. About 200,000 people visit the festival for the period.
In July, the Firework show is held there and many people visit.
