Gamers: The Movie

Gamers: The Movie (or simply Gamers) is an independent 2006 mockumentary film written, directed and produced by Chris Folino. The film follows four friends who, saddled with "four of the worst jobs known to man", attempt to set the world record for playing a Dungeons & Dragons-like game.

Filmed in only six days and entirely self-financed, the film featured several '80s stars in supporting roles: Kelly LeBrock (Weird Science), Beverly D'Angelo (Entourage, National Lampoon's Vacation), and William Katt (The Greatest American Hero). The soundtrack also includes songs by Loverboy and other '80s bands.

Despite its rushed production schedule, the director's wife giving birth to twins prematurely on the first day of shooting, and charging $60,000 to credit cards to finance the movie, the mockumentary was compared favorably by critics to Spinal Tap, Office Space and Napoleon Dynamite. Folino was singled out for the originality of his writing voice and sure hand at directing comedy. The film received many positive reviews from indie film critics and gamers. Indie film web sites Indie Film Naton and bumscorner.com named Gamers the "Best Film of 2006." It also received the award for Best Screenplay at the 2006 Melbourne Underground Film Festival.
