Flash Harry (St Trinian's)

Flash Harry is a fictional character from the St. Trinian's movies who first appears in the 1954 The Belles of St Trinian's. The term refers to "an ostentatious, loudly-dressed, and usually ill-mannered man, who may also be a spiv. Sir Malcolm Sargent was also (and earlier) nicknamed "Flash Harry.

In the St Trinian's movies, Harry runs the St Trinian's Matrimonial Agency for the Sixth Form girls. He puts bets on race horses for the pupils, and also helps them to bottle and sell their laboratory-created gin.

Portrayers

"Flash Harry" was played by George Cole in the first four St Trinian's movies:

"Flash Harry" was played by Joe Melia in the fifth St. Trinian's movie The Wildcats of St Trinian's in 1980.

In the 2007 movie, called St. Trinian's "Flash Harry" was played by Russell Brand. It is not yet clear if Brand will return to the role for the 2009 sequel St Trinian's: The Legend of Fritton's Gold.
