Wykeham Stanley Cornwallis, 2nd Baron Cornwallis

Early life
Was born in 1892 at
Linton ,
Kent,
England , the second son of
Fiennes Stanley Wykeham Cornwallis and Mabel (née Leigh).
Had two borther and four sisters
and was educated at
Eton College
then
Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Keen on
Cricket, played the
First Class Game for
Kent
Succeeded to the title of
2rd Baron Cornwallis in 1935 and was Chairman of the
Kent County Council between 1935 and 1936.
Military career
During
WWI, served with the
Royal Scots Greys.. Was wounded and received the
Military Cross. Served on the general staff in
France and
Flanders. Later was
Honorary Colonel of
Thames and Medway Heavy Regiment, Royal Artillery.
Family life
Married twice, finitially to Cecily Etha Mary (née Walker), daughter of
Captain Sir James Heron Walker, until her death in 1943. They had two children.
Secondly, on
26 February 1948, to Esme Ethel Alice (née d'Beaumont), daughter of Captain Montmorency d'Beaumont.
Lord Cornwallis died 4 January 1982 aged 89, and was succeeded in the barony by his son
Fiennes Neil Wykeham Cornwallis.
