Open Source Initiative's Educational Community License is a free and open source license intended for use by academic institutions. It is approved by the Open Source Initiative, and the Free Software Foundation lists the second version of this license as being a "GPL-Compatible Free Software License" that is compatible with version 3 of the GNU General Public License but not compatible with version 2.
