He formerly played at São Paulo Futebol Clube on loan from Serie C side Joinville, but later moved to Portuguese Beira-Mar, where he played the last half of the 2006-2007 season. In the 2007 summer transfer window, he was tranfered to FC Porto, before moving again on a loan agreement to Académica.
Edgar joined Red Star Belgrade on July 2008 on a 1 year contract.
