This North Fork has numerous primary sources: Rice Creek and Cold Boiling lake at the northern-most point on the southern edge of Lassen Volcanic National Park, Buzzard Springs in northeastern Plumas County, Warner Creek, joining further to the south. The North Fork then flows into Lake Almanor, where it is joined by waters from the Hamilton Branch and Benner Creek, and Last Chance River as well as numerous natural springs feeding from beneath the lake; the River exits Lake Almanor at Canyon Dam, runs south, and is joined by the East Branch North Fork Feather River (also called Last Chance River) south of Indian Valley, near the communities of Belden and Seneca.
The North Fork then continues down a canyon until it ends in the Oroville Reservoir.
