East African Wildlife Society

East African Wildlife Society (EAWLS) is a membership-based non governmental conservation organization. It was founded in 1961 as the Kenya Wild Life Society. According to the society its work consists of:

• influencing policy reform through advocacy and publicity
• supporting national park infrastructure, antipoaching measures and wildlife sanctuaries
• providing conservation education and research
• involving community in conservation initiatives

East African Wildlife Society publishes two magazines, which are Swara and African Journal of Ecology.
