Douce II of Provence

Douce II of Provence

Douce II (also Dulcia or Dolça) (died 1172) was the daughter of Ramon Berenguer II, Count of Provence, and Richeza of Poland. After her father died trying to conquer Nice in 1166, she inherited the County of Provence.

She was immediately opposed by her cousin, Alfonso the Chaste, Count of Barcelona, who alleged that because her father had no male heirs, his county passed to him. In 1167, he took control of Provence, forcing her out.
