Doncaster College is a further and higher education college in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England It comprises two campuses, which are known as The Hub and University Centre, Doncaster.
Staff and students
The College employs around 1,200 staff and accommodates around 22,000 part and full time
students aged 16+.
Academics
In its latest
Ofsted report, published in July 2008, the college was judged to be making
reasonable progress in all areas after inspectors had previously called the college
inadequate.
The number of part-time courses were reduced from September 2007, due to a £500,000 reduction in funding like every other college in the country.
Campuses
The Hub
Opened in September 2006, the main campus is a £65m Waterfront development on the outskirts of Doncaster town centre. The main IT facilities, that include an infrastructure to deliver remote and online learning, a drama studio and a Learning Resource Centre are located here.
University Centre Doncaster
The University Centre is the College’s second campus located at
High Melton, six miles west of Doncaster. The
Doncaster Business School is based here as are most of the higher education courses. It is also home to Britain's first centre of excellence for relationship studies - The Relate Institute.
An inspection of its higher education provision by Government watchdog QAA in June 2007, published this year, praised the establishment saying they had ''confidence' in the college's abilities and provision.
College managers hope to bring an independent university to the town in the coming years.
