In the year 1967 it was taken over by the Government of Assam and since then the college has never looked back. Within a few years the college got its own building which provides accommodation for class rooms, office room, department staff rooms, auditorium, library etc. Besides, there are two Girls’ Hostels and one Boys’ hostel. There are 23 quarters for teachers and 8 quarters for non-teaching staff in addition to one full furnished official residence for Principal. Over the years, the college made much progress in infrastructural development out of grants received from several sources like UGC, KAAC, Govt. of India, Govt. of Assam and from MP LAD fund. The college has a beautiful botanical garden cum recreation park, one peace park, one state of art Auditorium with all facilities, Seminar Hall (A/C), Cultural Museum etc.
