Dinamo Tirana

KS Dinamo Tirana

Klubi Sportiv Dinamo Tirana is an Albanian football team from Tirana, founded in 1950. They play at the Selman Stërmasi stadium which has a capacity of 25,000. Their main rivals are fellow Tirana club SK Tirana.

History

In 1995 the team was renamed KS Olimpik Tirana; in 1997 they returned to their original name. In the 2006-07 first qualifying round for the UEFA Cup the club was eliminated by CSKA Sofia from Bulgaria (1-5 aggregate). Zoran Kastel was the goalscorer. After finishing third in the table in 2005/06, KS Dinamo Tirana named Faruk Sejdini as their new coach. One of Albania's best teachers of footballing fundamentals, he had a spell at the club last term before being dismissed by president Besnik Sulaj. Having returned following a spell at KS Shkumbini, Sejdini said: "It's nice to be back." On October 23, 2006, Faruk Sejdini was fired. At the start of the 2007/08 season, Agim Canaj took over as head coach. He has been replaced by Ilir Daja who lead Dinamo towards the championship title, after a dramatic win against Partizani 2-1 in the final match, playing for 36 minutes with 9 players. In the summer of 2008 Ilir Daja moved into a position as director in order to make place for Marcelo Javier Zuleta from Argentina. Zuleta only lasted for the first Champions League qualification match against Bosnian FK Modriča before he was replaced as coach by Artan Merxhyshi, for only one game. After Mergjyshi the coach of Dinamo, would be, Zlatko Dalić, actual coach of Croatia U-21, who have sign a two year contract with the club.
