Didda

Didda was ruler of Kashmir from 980 AD. to 1003 AD., first as a Regent for her son Abhimanyu, and thereafter as sole ruler in her own right.

She became regent after death of her husband King Kshemagupta . She was a very influential woman.

Didda was very beautiful but clever and ruthless and an able and successful administrator. She eventually handed over the throne to her maternal family from Lohara in undisputed, peaceful succession.
