School name and philosophy
Maldives is a nation rich in heritage and culture. The spirit of recognizing the past and making the people aware of its history is often reflected in the names of different primary and secondary schools in Maldives. No doubt, it has been followed and probably the existing gap has been filled by naming the new school on behalf of a personality who had been instrumental in bringing the blaze of faith of Islam to Maldives. It was during the reign of King Dharumavantha Rasgefaanu that Maldives embraced Islam which is the potent and vibrant force of socio-economic life in Maldives.
The School Motto is well embedded in the three words of Faith, Discipline and Wisdom. They are in fact the three pillars on which the Educational philosophy of Dharumavantha School rests.
Everyone can learn, achieve and excel.
The vision of the school is to provide pupils the optimal environment to produce academic and personal excellence and to develop them as contributing members to the society.
Despite its short history, it is widely believed among Maldivians that Dharumavantha School has established itself as one of the leading schools in Maldives. The schools have an almost level record in terms of academic statistics with other top schools, but Dharumavantha have a marginally better performance often. Dharumavantha was awarded second place for it's academic performance for the year 2007. In Maldives, the most significant competition among school's are in the various national and inter- school Literary Competitions. Since Dharumavantha was opened, Dharumavantha has won the National Oratory competition 6 times. Dharumavantha has also achieved many awards in other competitions such as National Essay Writing Competition and National Short Story Writing Competition.
