The
Dead Sea Works (מפעלי ים המלח) is a major industry on the shores of the
Dead Sea in
Israel. The company operates in the southern basin of the Sea, where it has a series of large
evaporation ponds. These produce
potash, which is exported around the world for various uses.
History
Following the 1948
Israeli War of Independence,
Moshe Novomeysky's
Palestine Potash Company Ltd. was nationalised by the Israeli government under the
Ministry of Development, and renamed the Dead Sea Works in 1952.
